1. Information You Save in Indexd

When you use Indexd, you may choose to save information such as:

• website and content URLs
• Index Card titles
• Stack names
• Notes
• source and metadata information
• thumbnails and preview information
• Card status and activity information, such as when a Card was saved or opened

This information is used to provide Indexd's core features, including saving, organizing, displaying, searching, editing, and rediscovering your Cards.

Most Indexd data is stored locally using Apple's SwiftData technology and the app's App Group storage on your Apple device.

2. Website Metadata and Thumbnails

When you save certain links, Indexd may contact the website or service associated with that link to retrieve publicly available information needed to create a useful Card, such as:

• page title
• description or caption
• source information
• preview image or thumbnail

For example, saving a public webpage or post may require Indexd to request metadata from that website or its content delivery provider.

These external websites and services may receive standard internet request information, such as your IP address, according to their own privacy practices.

Indexd does not control the privacy practices of third party websites or services.

3. iCloud and Shared Stacks

Indexd may use Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services for features that involve iCloud, including supported Stack collaboration and sharing.

When you choose to share a Stack, information associated with that shared Stack may be stored through Apple's CloudKit infrastructure and made available to the people you invite according to the permissions you choose.

Shared information may include information such as:

• Stack information
• Cards in the shared Stack
• Card titles
• URLs
• Notes or other Card information
• source metadata
• collaboration attribution

Your use of iCloud is also subject to Apple's applicable terms and privacy practices.

Using Indexd's basic local saving features does not require you to create a separate Indexd account.

4. How We Use Information

Indexd uses information handled through the app only as reasonably necessary to:

• save and organize your Cards and Stacks
• retrieve useful metadata and thumbnails
• provide search and browsing features
• preserve your edits and Notes
• provide supported iCloud sharing and collaboration
• maintain the security and reliability of Indexd
• respond to support requests you choose to send us

We do not currently use third party advertising SDKs or third party analytics SDKs in the Indexd iOS app.

We do not use your saved Cards or Notes to create advertising profiles.

5. Sharing of Information

Indexd does not sell your saved Cards or Notes.

Information may be transmitted to or processed by third parties only where needed to provide functionality you request, including:

Apple
For iCloud and CloudKit functionality.

Source websites and content providers
When Indexd retrieves metadata, thumbnails, or previews associated with a link you save.

People you choose to collaborate with
When you intentionally share a Stack using supported collaboration features.

We may also disclose information if required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or a valid governmental request.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Cards and Stacks stored locally remain on your device until you edit or delete them, remove the app and its associated data, or otherwise remove that data through available Apple or device functionality.

You can delete individual Cards and Stacks using the controls available in Indexd.

Information stored through iCloud or a shared Stack may also be subject to Apple's iCloud storage and retention behavior and the actions of participants in a shared Stack.

If you contact Indexd for support, we may retain the information you voluntarily provide for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, maintain support records, or comply with applicable obligations.

7. Your Choices

You control what you choose to save in Indexd.

You can:

• edit or delete Cards
• edit or delete Stacks where permitted
• choose whether to use supported sharing features
• stop sharing or leave shared content where the app and Apple's sharing services permit
• remove Indexd from your device
• contact us with privacy questions

Indexd does not require a separate Indexd account for its core local functionality.

8. Security

Indexd uses Apple platform technologies and reasonable technical measures intended to protect the information handled by the app.

However, no device, storage system, or internet transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple Account and device.

9. Third Party Links and Services

Indexd is designed to help you save links to content hosted by other websites and services.

When you open an original link from Indexd, you are leaving Indexd and interacting directly with that third party service.

Third party websites and apps have their own terms and privacy policies. Indexd is not responsible for their privacy practices or content.

References to services such as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Amazon, X, Reddit, Pinterest, or other sources describe compatibility or the source of content and do not imply sponsorship, endorsement, or partnership unless expressly stated.

10. Children's Privacy

Indexd is not designed to knowingly collect personal information directly from children through an Indexd account system, and Indexd does not currently provide a separate account registration service.

If you believe personal information has been provided to us improperly by a child, please contact us through our Support page.

11. International Users

If you use Indexd outside the United States, information involved in third party website requests, Apple services, or support communications may be processed in locations different from where you live, subject to the practices of those providers and applicable law.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Indexd evolves.

When we make material changes, we will update the effective date shown on this page and provide any additional notice required by applicable law.
